Experience
I have 7 years of experience teaching and tutoring languages, and offer tutoring in English as a Second Language, Spanish, and Modern Standard (Fusha) Arabic. I served as Teaching Assistant for the Arabic Department at Oberlin College for 3 years and have worked for the Middlebury Monterey Language Academy's "lived" summer language immersion program. I received a 5/5 on both the Spanish Language and Spanish Literature AP Tests. I completed my senior thesis entirely in Spanish, and currently do freelance Spanish translation work for a software consulting company in Houston. In 2012, I participated in an intensive ESL Teacher Training Course and have been teaching ESL to university students, and corporate clients ever since. I have extensive experience studying languages in the US and abroad, including Spanish, Arabic, Tamil, and Urdu. Aside from my education at Oberlin, I took part in intensive language study at Georgetown University, the University of Madison in Wisconsin, the Arabic Language Institute in Fez, Morocco, and spent a semester at the University of Cordoba in Spain. My lessons are engaging, dynamic, and tailored meet the students's goals. I am patient and can motivate even the shyest students to laugh and learn from their mistakes, emerging confident and prepared for class the next day. I conduct lessons both in person and online. My online classes are convenient and extremely organized. With access to shared Google Docs, Calendars, and Blogs for homework assignments, my online classroom provides an easy way to access all your learning resources in one place and make the most of your time. Learning a language opens so many doors to new knowledge, art, music, friendships, and other valuable experiences. I think the world is a better place because of it, and take pride in helping you make this journey.
