Experience
I've been a tutor for nearly a decade, and in college I acted as a teaching assistant for several STEM classes. I have experience tutoring one on one and in large groups. I pride myself in adapting to each individual student's needs and finding a connection to make material relatable. My teaching philosophy is pragmatic and adaptive. I believe in clarifying goals, identifying obstacles, creating an individualized plan, and providing the support needed to succeed. Tutoring can help teach material, but it can also help develop new habits and study techniques. Unlocking potential is important. This philosophy works exceptionally well for standardized tests or entrance exams, which can be overwhelming in an unstructured environment. I know techniques and resources specific to the LSAT, GRE, and ACT, which can make these tests much more manageable. I also have experience working in a higher-ed admissions office and can give guidance on navigating the admissions process. I can't underscore the importance of investing in these tests enough or the importance of creating a plan for applying the colleges, graduate schools, or law schools. I've provided counseling to make the process less daunting. I call myself an "academic coach" - I provide an understanding of the material, help develop long-lasting study skills, will keep you accountable, and provide perspective to help you thrive.
