Private tutor in Cleveland, OH
Kent State University at Kent - Bachelor's of Science, Integrated Language Arts
I attended Kent State University, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Education. I am currently a licensed teacher for grades seven through twelve in English and language arts. I have experience tutoring in reading, grammar, literature, writing, vocabulary, and basic study skills. I have also taught in a classroom setting for two years, teaching high school honors English. I've also had the opportunity to teach literature, including poetry, Shakespeare, and young adult novels and nonfiction. Because I have found that students have a variety of ways in which they best learn, I like my initial tutoring sessions to include time to interact with my student and discover together what their best learning style is. It also helps me create individualized lessons if I know what my student's interests are, whether it's sports, cars, castles, or pop music. I don't start asking my student difficult questions right from the start. Instead, I begin with the more basic questions, and work towards more difficult material until we find the place to begin. I have a flexible schedule, and am known to work hard and be patient and punctual. In my free time, I like writing, reading, cooking, shopping, and going to the movies.

Outside of school, I like to read and write, cook, go shopping, go to the movies, explore Cleveland more (lived here my whole life and never seen everything Cleveland has to offer), go to Indians and Monsters games, and hang out with friends.
